House rewires on the Isle of Wight
Full and partial rewires, planned around you, certified and registered under Part P. Start with a few questions and photos.
- No travel charge on the Island
- 2 year workmanship guarantee
- Revised price before any work starts
What it is
A rewire replaces the cables, sockets, switches and light fittings in all or part of a home, and usually the consumer unit too.
A partial rewire covers part of the property, such as one floor, an extension or a set of rooms.
When you need it
- The wiring is old rubber or fabric covered cable
- An electrical safety report (EICR) recommends it
- You are renovating or extending
- You rely on extension leads because there are too few sockets
- You have bought an older property and want to start afresh
What our standard job covers
Your estimate spells out exactly what your job includes, so you can check it before you accept.
- New cabling to sockets, switches and lights in the agreed rooms
- A new consumer unit where your estimate includes one
- Cables run inside walls, with chases filled and made good, ready for decorating
- Testing every new circuit
- An Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification
- Taking away the old cable and fittings
What can change the price
Your estimate itemises the labour, the materials, the certification and any waste removal, so you can see how the total is made up before you accept it. These are the things that most often affect it:
- The age of the property and how the walls are built: plasterboard, brick or stone
- Access from a loft or under floorboards
- Whether the property is lived in during the work
- A listed building or conservation area
- Extra sockets, lights or circuits beyond the original layout
Your certificate
You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate. A rewire is notifiable under Part P, so the work is registered through the NICEIC scheme and the property owner receives a Building Regulations compliance certificate.
Can it be priced online?
We start online, and every rewire estimate is checked by Ashton before you see it. He may ask for one more photo or a short video call.
No surprises
If anything differs from your description, you get a revised price before any work starts, and if you decide not to go ahead we refund your deposit in full.

Rewires: questions
Can we stay in the house during a rewire?
Many rewires are carried out with the property lived in, although an empty property is quicker to work in. Tell us in the questions and your estimate allows for it.
Will you redecorate afterwards?
Holes and chases are filled and made good, but not redecorated. Most people book a decorator to follow on.
Do I need a new consumer unit?
Often, yes, particularly where the existing board has no RCD protection. Your estimate says whether one is included.
